Habits

Uncommon. It inhabits the undergrowth of humid forest (frequently where there are stands of bamboo), secondary woodland and forest edge. In some areas such as the state of Rio de Janeiro it is restricted to mountainous regions. It is difficult to see except when males are displaying to the females during the breeding season.

Distribution

It is endemic to Brazil from the south of Minas Gerais to Rio de Janeiro and the south of São Paulo.
